Be careful what you tweet
My latest follower is called FloodMasters. They are a Toronto area company that of course cleans up after floods. At first I couldn’t figure out WHY they wanted to follow me until 2 seconds later it hit me. A few weeks ago I Tweeted about my basement being flooded. They must have used Twitter’s search capabilities to locate anyone in Toronto who Tweeted about floods or flooded basements.
Way to tap into social media. The best part, so far is that all they have done is follow me, they haven’t contacted me … yet.
So here is a holistic online marketing tip – look for mentions of your products/services in Twitter’s timelines, start following those individuals and you may one day get a sale out of it. Sounds pretty far fetched doesn’t it? But it does work.
My basement has flooded every rainstorm this summer. Guess who I’m caling to help me clean up the mess?
