RSS only works when you feed it
Last month I created a blog for a client, www.gooddogscanada.com and part of the blogging package was for me to spend time instructing her on the basics of blogging which included subscribing to an RSS feed.
My client emailed me earlier this week. She wasn’t sure if she had done the RSS feed correctly, as she had not received any updates to my blog. I had to sheepishly admit that while I am out advocating blogging as an excellent means of building links and traffic, my blog was like the proverbial “shoemaker’s children”. Not “abandoned” just on the back burner.
I’m still exploring holistic online marketing, and of course blogging is central to the concept. I have blogged a bit more at my other blogs, www.videozine.ca and www.seoservicestoronto.com – both of these blogs are set up as hybrid blogs/websites with the blog page up front with fresh content and the pages acting as the sales pages. This is a concept which I believe will become the standard for business websites over the coming months and years.
The day of static brochure -ware sites are gone, today people want fresh content, even on business blogs. A business blog is an excellent means of communicating with your customer no matter what business you are in.
