Twitter Clients for Blackberry

May 3rd, 2009 Posted in Twitter

I came across Mark Evan’s post on “TweetDeck Still Rules The Roost“. I’ve been playing with Seesmic Desktop too. It’s OK … I’m kinda with Mark on this one. I prefer TweetDeck and Tweet Deck is tied into Facebook too for when I want to update my status. Which is pretty much all I use Facebook for these days.

Seesmic Desktop is OK, it’s pretty much TweetDeck in different colours

But what is bedeviling me is my inability to get a half decent Twitter client for my crackberry. I’m relatively new to Blackberry’s I’ll admit. I understand they may not be as “fast” as PCs, but none of the clients I have tried have worked 100%.

ubertwitter-logoUberTwitter - I can’t get on due to some network error. They said look on their website for Rogers network connection information, I entered it and still get network error.

Epic Fail.

Another client I’m testing out is Blackbird. Blackbird connects me to my Twitter account. One up over Ublackbird-logo-160x120ber Twitter all ready. I can send messages, bonus number two, but as soon as I go to update my friends timeline I get a java exception error.  Error: java.io.ioexception to be exact.  As the old Meatloaf song went …. “Two out of three ain’t bad.”

tb04Then there is TwitterBerry. TwitterBerry has a lot of promise, but again, I can’t get my friends timeline to work. Replies and Direct Messages work, but take forever to load. TwitterBerry so far is the most promising of the clients I ahve installed. I’d like to do more Twittwering from my Blackberry and will have to learn to use what TwitterBerry has to offer.

Which is a bit of a drag because I’d like to have a fully functioning Twitter client on my Blackberry.

Is anyone welse having these issues or is this something for me to work out with Rogers?

  • I'm having the same issues on my Blackberry with Twitterberry. I would love to partner with a person to built a better app. Everyone is on the iPhone and that leave the Blackberry app store a wide open market for a better app.

P.S. Also saw your post about Social Media Camp Toronto. We've Mesh and other evens, so it would have to be a pretty unique event to have a Social Media Camp in Toronto, IMO. Would love to get together and start one if the event was going to be unique.
  • i've been using ubertwitter for a few weeks on my storm...so far so good.
