Disney is at it again
I’m not sure if I should bitch-slap or high five the executives over at Disney. They know their tween audience for Hannah Montana only too well.
Last year when the Hannah Montana 3D movie came out; it was supposed to be a “Limited Engagement” of about 10 days. After a phenomenal opening weekend Disney decided to let the movie run it’s course. I was really ticked at Disney for duping kids by saying it was a limited time engagement and then taking away that magic from the kids.
Well there is a new Hannah Montana movie out this weekend and it appears the Disney hype machine wants your kids and mine to order tickets in advance for Hannah Montana’s new movie. They are making the pot pretty sweet too.

What kid doesn’t want to be first in line to see their idol’s new movie? And inducing them to order advance tickets for the new Hannah Montana movie and receive a free iTunes song? Pretty sweet offer.
From a marketing perspective the Disney campaign is right on the money and well executed. However, on a personal level, (which is why this is filed under “soapbox”) I still have a bad taste in my mouth from the “Limited Engagement Hannah Montana 3D Movie” scam of February 08.
Oh and did we fall for it this time around? Of course we did.
