Opening up a can of worms

January 28th, 2009 Posted in Twitter, in the trenches, soapbox

Last night just after I arrived home my youngest daughter (12) was watching Much on Demand. I just sat down and then Leah came on to do a piece. She started talking about the world’s first 3D Porn movie being made in Japan. She then started talking a bit more about how detailed the movie would be, but not getting into real details if you know what I mean.

My wife and I looked at each other in horror. It was 5:40 in the afternoon and here she was telling my 12 year old about a 3D porn movie! From the looks on the faces of the teenage girls in the audience, they were not too happy about it either.

My wife asked me to complain to Much about this content. So I started looking up contact info on their website. The pnly phone number on the site was to book tickets to future shows. There was no general information line. As Much is now owned by CTVGlobemedia I looked up their info and called them. They gave me the direct line to their “Queen Street Facility”. I called and left a message on some woman’s voice mail.

Then I turned to the Twitter community. I was sure out of my 1400 + followers someone would know someone I could talk to. Sure enough the offers of names and email addresses came flowing in.

Thanks to all of my Twitter followers for your help.

Then this morning I had a tsunami of new followers and they all have one thing in common.

They are all involved in the adult entertainment industry! I guess because I used the word “porn” in my Twitter feed they were doing a search for it and zoomed in on me. They are now following me, but I did not reciprocate.

So a word of warning my fellow Twitterers – unless you want a ton of adult film stars following you, refrain from mentioning porn in your Twitter feed.
