How to kill a blog in 10 days
I remember a long time ago seeing an ad in a newspaper (this was before the internet was really “born”) for a book called “How to Live Rent Free”. As my girlfriend at the time and I were contemplating buying a house this book appealed to us, so I sent in my money, I think it was something like 2 or 5 dollars and waited for the life changing book to arrive.
A few weeks later I get a plain and very thin manilla envelope in the mail. Inside was a brochure with the title on it “How to Live Rent Free”, upon opening it I found the secret, and I will share it with you here. All it said on the inside was “Buy a house and rent out the basement”. Seriously, that’s all it said. So simple yet it took me 2 or 5 dollars to find this out. And yes we eventually did take the brochures advice.
Fast forward to last week, I came across a blog with the same title as this post – “How to kill a blog in 10 days”, my guilt at not posting to newmediamike was eating away at me so I read the post. In almost as simplistic terms as my brochure of 30 years ago the advice was simple and yet so sage.
It’s so simple you’ll slap your head and say “D’oh!”
“DON’T WRITE FOR 10 DAYS AND WATCH INTEREST DIE OFF”
That was the sum total of the post. Stop writing and like a flower on the vine it will whither and die. I’ve put a lot of effort into newmediamike in the past and I still have a lot of ideas and posts in me … so I’m giving newmediamike mouth to mouth and hope I can resuscitate this and keep it alive.
