Did anyone famous go to your high school?

The first time I met Bob Pomerantz from Your Life Productions he asked me this question. “Did anyone famous go to your high school?”. At the time I couldn’t think of anyone, then while poking around on Facebook and joining the alumni group for my former high school I discovered not one but two famous people!

Wayne Gretzky and Shania Twain. Wayne Gretzky attended West Humber Collegiate in 1976, he was in Grade 9 and I was in Grade 12. Shania of course attended after I left. I’ve always thought since then what a great ice-breaker question to ask someone.

The next time you are at a networkig event or even when you meet someone new online why not ask them, “Did anyone famous go to your high school?”

I went to school with Bryan Adams...first he wen tot Sutherland in North Van 1973-74 era, when the band Sweeny Todd needed a singer, the next thing I knew that Bryan Admas was singing with them..weird..also he attended Argyle in North Vancouver as well. I heard he donated his baby grand to Sutherland SS....sentimental reasons..I just remember a long hair guy , who face was hidden and somewhat eccentric kid..who like to smoke doobies...LOL....not that I know anything about that..lol. He had a great manager( Bruce Allen) that seemed to esculate his career...he did well.
