Daily SEO Tip – Getting indexed by Google quicker

Getting indexed in Google is one of the basic steps in your SEO journey. But it is also one of the most important.

Getting indexed by Google means basically getting into their directory – introducing your site to Google by that one first hand shake.

Businessmen Shaking Hands

You may already know that adding your website to Google is the easiest way to do it. Google gives you the option of submitting your URL to them manually.

Well, this isn’t actually the best way to do it.  Sure it’s one of the easiest ways.   You submit your URL and wait for Google to crawl your site and index it. But this is not necessarily the BEST way to get indexed by Google.

As Google says – there is no guarantee the submission will be done in this method.  This may sound crazy, but my recommendation is NEVER add your URL to Google by submitting your site.

What? Think of it this way. When you meet someone, is it better that a common friend introduces you or you beg for attention?

Definitely the first one right? If you have a common friend, he’ll introduce you to the person – because your friend is his friend and there is the trust factor that comes in. Which is how Googles Page Rank works. Google assigns PR based on how many other sites link to the site being ranked. The more sites the higher the rank.

Similarly, to get introduced to Google, don’t beg for it’s attention (by submitting your URL and waiting for a spider to crawl your site) but ask your friend who knows Google well to introduce you to it.  In other words – Get a link from an already indexed site to yours.

Here are the advantages of this method
- You get indexed to Google’s directory as it will follow to your site/blog from the link – this is weighed more.
- You get automatically linked once when a Google robot follows the link – no desperate wait.
- Better results in less time.

How to get incoming links to a new site/blog

Remember for a new website, getting a link from a PR2 or PR3 site shouldn’t be a problem.  All you have to do is ask someone. Write an email, shout out on forums etc. It may sound a bit awkward, but remember – the squeaky wheel gets the oil or in this case, the linking site gets indexed!

When the Googlebot does it’s next crawl it will find that it’s trusted “friend” introduced you to it (through a link) – then you are likely to get a higher PR.
