Daily SEO Tip - 7 steps to successful SEO

When I first started optimizing websites 10 years ago I found a very simple formula that worked. It worked for me then and it still works for me today.

Technology Concepts 1

Here are the 7 steps I have always followed which have resulted in achieving high rankings and giving me successful results:

1. Create a unique TITLE tag for each page that includes your page’s relevant keyword(s) plus the benefit followed by Company/Site name and I also include my phone number.

2. A unique META Description tag for each page that should be used to enforce the relevancy of the keywords and function as the marketing message to the visitor when they find your site on Google.

3. An H1 tag centered around the page’s main keyword(s) focus.

4. Informative, unique content which is useful by fulfilling a need of your target audience.

5. Relevant keywords for that particular page in the URL.

6. Robots.txt file to guide the robots as to which files to scan.

7. Using relevant keywords in anchor text linking back to the page.

That’s the sum total of my basic optimization. Search Engine Optimization is essentially good organization of your site’s code and assets plus acquiring quality links natuarally via useful interesting content.

Not only do I dispense SEO Tips, but I optimize sites as well. If you would like a FREE no obligation evaluation and a course of action, based on these 7 steps of your site, please contact me through my SEO company - SEO Services Toronto.

Mobile Moment

August 7th, 2008 | Comments | Posted in mobile

As I was traveling along King Street this morning on my way to work I saw several construction hoardings covered in a poster advertising something called “Mobile Moment”. Upon closer examination it was an advertisement for a website called MobileMoment.ca .

My curiosity was piqued, and when I arrived at work this morning I went to check it out. MobileMoment.ca is like a mobile/web hybrid of the Missed Connections section of craigslist.

Here is how it works: Type the details of your moment into the body of your text message and send it to 56366. After texting in your moment, you’ll be sent a mobile code. Use this code to register on MobileMoment.ca. After registering you can edit and expand your moment, map your moment on their interactive Google map, and reply to other moments posted on the site.

The site is sponsored by Koodo Mobile and Samsung. They also have a Facebook application you can post on your Facebook profile.

It’s an interesting intersection of mobile and web. And it’s Canadian. Seems maybe Canadians are starting to adapt/adopt mobile applications.

Speaking of mobile applications, a few weeks ago I was on the TTC again (hey I’m doing my bit for the environment) coming home from Twitterbrunch. I missed my bus and I wanted to know when the next one was coming along. The stop I was at didn’t have a schedule, and I thought it would be great if I could access the schedule from my mobile.

Well it turns out the TTC currently has an RFP out for just such a service. Way to go TTC!
