Daily SEO Tip – Anchor Text in Classified Ads

If you're new here, you may want to subscribe to my RSS feed. Thanks for visiting!

OK so technically this is Tuesday’s tip! I’ll have another one tonight after the iO schmoozefest.

This is a tip I use all the time and it is very effective on two fronts. First if you place classified ads on sites like Craigslist or Kiijjii you of course get the benefit of additional exposure beyond the search engines.  The key to tying your ads to search engines and your site is the use of anchor text in your ads.

Using Videozine as a sample again, when I talk about VHS to DVD transfers in my ads I place a link to my site in that phrase. This way the search engines (which BTW crawl Craigs and kiijii constantly) will pick up this new content, because Craigslist and Kiijii also have great Google Page Rankings you are benefiting from a link from a higher ranking site.

All in all, using anchor text in classified ads is a win-win situation.

Tonight I will talk about Robots.txt files and their importance.

Using free classified ads is definitely the way to go. I've been posting free ads to most of the sites on http://www.freeclassifiedsites.net and have noticed higher traffic as a result.
  • Posting your services, products on classified ads sites is an effective way to drive traffic, but you really need to have a good ad content when posting remember that you are offering something for others to buy or avail and convincing someone is not that easy all time. Campaign ad contents are really important. Visit htpp://www informationex.com where you can post ads and get some wonderful advertising ideas.
  • Yes...but where are the free classified sites that will allow you to use anchor text for your link? It is all so pointless, as most of them are nofollow, which can still get you traffic, but I mean, come on.....unless you can find a free classified site that allows anchor text, its a lose lost situation.
  • Thanks for this tip.
